The nose is a complexly contoured, three dimensional multilayered structure which occupies a central position on the face. Spatially the nose projects beyond the plane of the face and head. The nose is noticeable in the frontal and profile views and hence prone to ridicule and assault. The nose has an array of shapes and sizes, yet adds beauty to the face. The three dimensional shape of the nose causes bright highlights and deep shadows, and any defect in form can be noticed even from a distance. The nose has a marked effect on an individual’s perception of self esteem and outlook to life.

Cosmetic rhinoplasty or nose reshaping surgery is done in patients who need enhancement in the appearance of their nose.

Recovery after rhinoplasty

Nasal splint to be used for 1-2 weeks post surgery.Swelling may take several weeks to a few months to subside.
